American JOBS- Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton, tell us what to do..??

We Americans got some good news recently, as the unemployment figures DROPPED from 10.2 %- to 10%.

I remain skeptical though, because in the business that I am in, I know this may only be temporary.

Yes, I saw a lot of new people being trained for new jobs. However, I know that come January and February, many of these “new faces” will be gone.

They are commonly called: Seasonal employees, who are picked up for the Christmas shopping season. Only a few, who show drive and determination, will remain in that job after the holidays.

Still, it is good news because the unemployment figures could have gotten worse.

Can we live with 10% unemployment..??

Can we live with one out of every ten people in America out of work..??

And let’s not forget, how many people are “under-employed”? How many people are working a job that they are vastly over- qualified for, but they settle for what they have because there is nothing else out there?

I still believe that JOBS and the economy are the most important issue that we face today. Hence, we march forward with our editorial series on JOBS.

We need to return “industry” back to America. We do not “make” anything, anymore.

When trying to find a solution to the economic problems that we face today, the debate usually unfolds like this:

(Here is an example debate between the liberal progressive and the conservative:)

“It was those dam democrats: Barney Frank and Chris Dodd who caused this crisis. They were in charge of banking.”

“Oh, yea; what about President Bush and the republicans? They were in charge of the government for 6 years and did nothing.”

Is that so, well it was the democrats during Carter and Clinton that PUT people in houses that they couldn’t afford.”

“Really, well it was Reaganomics that de-regulated everything and caused this crisis because banks went nuts giving out crappy loans that hurt people.”

“You suck, it was Carter who set the country on this socialistic path and taxes are so high that people cannot pay their bills.”

“You idiot, it was Nixon who…”

At this point, if you folks would like to go get a sandwich and maybe a beverage, you have plenty of time. I guaranty that this fight will still be taking place when you return.

Might I suggest an ice cold soda pop and a baloney sandwich?

Sounds tasty..!!

OK, let’s rejoin this debate between the liberal and the conservative, on what caused the current bad economy.

“You perverted fool, it was Jefferson who taxed people so that he could beef up his Navy.”

“Don’t call me a perverted fool you sick bastard, it was Adams who couldn’t decide if he was for a bigger government or a smaller one.”

“Oh, yea; well it was George Washington who…”

OK, let’s leave this debate between the liberal and the conservative. (You get the point.)

BOTH political party’s had a fair share in causing this economic crisis that we are in today.

And it will take both: conservatives and liberals to fix it.

In my last editorial on JOBS, we talked about the only solution that we can use to bring jobs back to America is with (taxes) tariffs.

We do not want to work for lower pay like in China, India, or Mexico.

We could relax environmental laws somewhat, but we do not want to pollute the air and water.

However, if we remove all taxes from products that are “truly” made in America, while raising “tariffs” on all imports; we could bring industry back to America.

One stumbling block to tariffs is the belief that:

“You cannot mess with the free market. If government screws with capitalism, we are doomed to fail as a nation.”

Well, that might not necessarily be true. Let’s start at the beginning.

American JOBS- Adams, Jefferson, Hamilton; tell us what to do?

From the beginning, the Colonies in the New World were supplied by European ships carrying goods from foreign lands.

Sure, we built our own houses and grew our own food; but we imported most other things. (Clothing material, iron works, mechanical devices, etc.)

It was apparent after the Revolutionary War, that America NEEDED it’s own industry.

Joined together in the fight for freedom; Jefferson, Adams, and Hamilton were united. After the war, they could agree on little.

Jefferson wanted a smaller federal government with powerful “states rights” and personal freedom.

Hamilton wanted a larger federal government with “laws and order” and a powerful Navy.

Adams was stuck somewhere in between and spent his time trying to hold America together by appeasing both sides.

George Washington didn’t belong to any political party and after the Revolutionary War, Washington just wanted to go home and do some fishing. (Smart guy..!!)

One thing that all these men could agree on was that the federal government would have to raise money. But how..??

The founding fathers knew that they couldn’t impose personal taxes, they had just fought a war to get away from that. Yet, they knew that the federal government could not survive by charity. (Politicians working for free, states- banding together to donate materials and labor to build Navy ships, etc.)

Being resourceful, the founding fathers always looked for ways to solve two problems with one solution. And America had 3 BIG problems to solve:

(One) The federal government needed funds

(Two) America needed industry. We didn’t “make” many things in America. (Sound familiar..??)

(Three) The Southern States had “slave” labor. How could any Northern business compete with Southern States that had very low labor costs? (Also, very familiar with our situation today. Low labor costs of goods made in China, Mexico, etc.)

The founding fathers solution was ingenious and simple:

Tax (tariff) all goods that arrive by ship.

This solution solved all three problems.

The federal government received the money it needed to survive. Yet, it didn’t tax individual Americans, personally.

The tax was high enough that it forced some European companies to move to America and set up shop. Also, enterprising Americans ventured into business on their own.

And, the South couldn’t bombard the North with cheap goods made from slave labor because these goods arrived up North, from the South, by ship; thereby receiving the shipping tariff. (It was almost impossible to ship large amounts of goods over land in those days.)

The tariff was the solution that solved our problems in those early days. The tariff ranged from a low 5%, all the way up to a high of 50%, in 1828.

You could almost tell who controlled congress by how high the tariff was.

When southern democrats (“Democrat- Republicans” as they were called back then) controlled the congress, they would lower the tariff to “help the southern states compete in the global market.”

When a northern member of the “Whig Party” controlled congress, the tariff would rise to “protect northern states from unfair advantages that ‘other’ countries have over America.”

The tariff fluctuated like that until President Lincoln and the abolishment of slavery. Now, the south didn’t have an unfair labor advantage. President Lincoln had to impose a 49% tariff to fund the Civil War. After the Civil War, with the south no longer demanding the lower tariff, the tariff remained high.

With this HIGH “protection tariff” in place, American industry became one of the best in the world.

By the 1900’s, the British newspaper: “The Daily Mail”, declared: “We have lost to the American manufacturer. (We have lost) electrical machinery, locomotives, steel rails, and agriculture machinery, the pride and backbone of the British engineering industry.”

America had become an industrial giant.

However, greed has a way of poking it’s ugly head into our lives.

American politicians (and large companies) began to believe that if America lowered it’s tariff, (and other countries lowered theirs) American manufacturers could make EVEN MORE MONEY selling goods overseas.

Enter- The era of Free Trade and low Tariffs

President Woodrow Wilson believed in low tariffs. With the advent of the “income tax”, the federal government no longer needed a high tariff to run the country. Income tax provided the government with plenty of money.

America experienced a great industrial boom.

This is where, (I believe) the notion was formed that: “trade MUST be free from tariffs, for American industry to grow”.

It is important to remember that Europe went through WW1. The “Old World’s” industry was devastated from this war. American goods would have been bought by foreign nations REGARDLESS of the tariff rate. Other nations had little choice. WW1 and WW2 crippled these nations.

Now, I’m NOT saying that we should have taxed “the crap” out of people who were suffering. I’m saying that “Free Trade” wasn’t the only catalyst for our economic growth.

None the less- free trade, low tariffs, and world trade policies became the normal for democrats and republicans alike.

Enter- globalization, the new world order, and “It’s a small world after all.”

America chugged along pretty good after WW2. That is, until…

American labor unions demanded HIGHER pay for it’s workers.

Americans demanded cleaner air, clearer water.

We wanted safer jobs.

And WHY NOT..!!

(We deserve it.) We work hard..!!

And, from the safety of our front porches, we all watched as the textile industry left American shores. We do not make clothing material here, anymore.

We all watched as the steel industry left America, and set up shop in some foreign land.

We all laughed at the first Japanese made TV sets. They were made with plastic shells. “Who would buy one ..??”, we said. American made television sets were framed in wood. They were BIG, heavy, scary looking things and it took four guys to move one. Today, you cannot find an American made TV.

We scratched our heads when we saw the first “small” foreign cars zipping by on American highways. Today, foreign cars make up nearly 45% of the vehicles sold in America.

We do not “make” anything, anymore.

We sell things. We service things.

But we do not make anything, anymore.

Some argue that “free markets” are what built America.

Others debate that “protectionism” allowed America to become strong.

I argue that it was a delicate balance between the two, that made America strong.

Protectionism of the 1800’s allowed American industry to become strong and excel in the “free markets” of the 1900’s.

The key is knowing when to “protect” and when to “free” the markets.

If ever there was a time to protect our industry, it is the present.

We need to learn from the founding fathers, for they went through the same thing that we are experiencing today.

We need to lower or remove all federal, state, and local taxes from anything “made” in America. And raise taxes on all imported goods. This will force industry back to America.

It worked for the founding fathers. There is no reason why it will not work again, today.

Written by AR Babonie for The Angry Republic

This concludes our 4th editorial on American JOBS. If you are interested in this topic and you missed the first 3 parts, I have links below.

The next editorial on American JOBS will deal with the next level of business for returning jobs to America.

We know what the problem is, we have a solution, and we have looked at the constitutionality of this solution. (Hell, the founding fathers did it, so it MUST be legal.)

Next, we need to start to implement this solution. I will need your help and your impute. We need to find politicians who also believe that American JOBS are the most important issue of the day.

I do not care if this politician is an independent, republican, or democrat. The issue of American JOBS rises above political parties.

If we cannot find a politician who supports the issue of American JOBS, then we will create one. (After all, these politicians work for us.)

But, that is for our next editorial, called:

American JOBS part 5- Taking the First Step

President Obama gave a “long awaited” speech last night, a speech that cuts like a knife, and seems to separate the “men” from the “boys.”
(OK, it probably doesn’t separate “men” from “boys”, I just put that in there to sound tough.)
However, President Obama’s speech cuts like a knife through the political parties.
Liberal / Progressives

President Obama gave a “long awaited” speech last night, a speech that cuts like a knife, and seems to separate the “men” from the “boys.”

(OK, it probably doesn’t separate “men” from “boys”, I just put that in there to sound tough.)

However, President Obama’s speech cuts like a knife through the political parties.

Liberal / Progressives

From Michael Moore writing an editorial that made a last- ditch effort to persuade Obama NOT to expand this war, to the Huffington Post declaring this a “War Reborn.” Liberals wanted us out of BOTH wars, and they are not happy about this build-up.

Progressives are happy that there is a time- line for leaving Afghanistan, BUT NOT THE BUILD UP. Some have even said that Obama is following Bush’s war policies. “Bush’s third term.” Some are asking where are all the “anti-war” protesters who showed up in numbers during Bush’s presidency.

(Yea, I would like to know that too..?? Where are the anti-war protesters?)

Conservative / Republicans

Are NOT happy about the time- line, and they may not be happy about the lower number of extra troops being sent, but they are happy that something is finally being done.

Conservatives are not happy with the mention of “war costs.” If you spend billions to bailout banks and car companies, what the hell is the difference?

If you are fighting a war, you fight to win. Who cares about the costs

Moderates / Indy’s / middle of the “political” road people

Many are happy that the US troops will get some help, and they have believed for awhile that we cannot stay in Afghanistan forever. Moderates, that I have listened to, seem happy about Obama’s speech last night.

More so, than any other issue that we currently have going, this issue cuts right down party lines and it separates the moderates.

You could almost gauge where you are on the political spectrum, by how you feel about President Obama’s Afghan plan.

I have felt for some time that President Obama was taking TOO LONG to make up his mind. “Either we fight to win: give the commanders what they need; or we get the hell out of Afghanistan. This ‘holding pattern’ that Obama put us in for months is killing young Americans.”

I may have been wrong with my opinion on the president, for taking too long.

General David Petraeus (who I admire and respect) defended President Obama, saying: “We needed this extra time to sharpen our plan, to place in Afghanistan the best possible effort to achieve our goals.”

If President Obama is truly listening to General Petraeus, then I owe Barack Obama an apology. For I have no doubt that General Petraeus has our military, and our country’s BEST interests in mind.

It is equally important that we remember that many liberals cut General Petraeus down before they even knew the man. (Remember; “General Petraeus, don’t betray us.” The NY Times ad put out by Move on.)

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, General Petraeus was asked: “Is VP Cheney WRONG for saying that Obama was ‘dithering?”

Petraeus gracefully said: “I didn’t hear the Vice President’s comments, so I have no opinion.”

Here is a man who is not going to get involved in “left- right” politics. He didn’t start these wars. But he has a job to do. To win battles and keep America safe.

If I owe an apology to President Obama, then many on the left owe an apology to General Petraeus. He just defended your president.

General Petraeus is fine with the July 2011 date that was set, because: “This date of July 2011 is not the end of a process, but the beginning of a process of turning control and security over to the Afghan people.”

Petraeus also said: “We will begin to pull out of Afghanistan when conditions on the ground warrant this. July 2011 begins this process.”

The three major problems that I have had with the Afghanistan War have been answered with President Obama’s speech last night.

(One) Our troops will get the help that they need.

(Two) President Obama IS listening to his generals.

(Three) We will not pull out of Afghanistan unless the country is stable.

These are “baby steps”, folks.

President Obama took “baby steps” in our direction.

The alcoholic who is trying to stay sober, but falls off the wagon and gets piss drunk, shouldn’t be kicked to the curb. You dust him off, pat him on the back, and encourage him to keep trying to stay sober.

When a liberal has a moment of realism, you must also give him encouragement so that he might stay in the world of reality.

Let’s put it another way…

How would Reverend Wright feel about President Obama’s Afghan policy..??

How would Bill Ayers feel about Obama’s choice..??

We already know how the far left progressives feel about this choice.

President Obama went against everything that he once believed to make this choice.

He deserves a pat on the back.

I do not agree with everything that president Obama said. However, there is not doubt that this was a step in the RIGHT direction.

This gives me hope that we can STOP the “cap and trade” bill.

Could it be that there is still hope with the health care bill?

Maybe President Obama IS delivering “hope” to the people.

Albeit, NOT the people who thought that they would receive this HOPE.

Today, I am hopeful.

However, many on the left believe that Obama is digging a hole that he will never escape.

I am thankful that Obama LOST the election, global warming hoax

It is that time once again that I take a moment to give “thanks” for the stuff that I am thankful for. (???) Not sure if that sentence makes sense?

I used to take this time of the year to talk about “The First Thanksgiving” and the myth that is taught in schools about what took place on that day.

That post usually leads to me spending Thanksgiving fighting with someone about the Native American and English settler’s relationship in the 1600’s. If you are interested in that topic, I have a link for you: (Feel free to comment on that post, if you like.)

LINK: “The REAL Thanksgiving

But today, I wanted to talk about things that I am thankful for, right now. Of course I am thankful for good health, and I have plenty of work in this bad economy. I am thankful for that, everyday (not just today.)

Today, I am thankful that someone hacked into the Climate Research Unit’s computers and snagged a bunch of e-mails that PROVE that “man- made global warming” is a hoax.

Hacking into someone’s computer is wrong, and in most cases; should be punished. However, these climate scientists were very close to deleting important information that proves that facts have been falsified to make man-made global warming look real.

By law, this information SHOULD have been released by the “freedom of information act”. But the climate scientist were trying to claim international status, therefore bypassing the information act, all the while- destroying the evidence.

Hacking into the Climate Research Unit’s computer was the only way to protect this information, and this hacker deserves a metal. (Instead of jail time.)

If America and Britain had honest government leadership and a non-bias media, THEY would have been investigating these climate scientists all along.

The climate scientists who should be investigated are Phil Jones of the Climate Research Unit and Michael Mann of Penn State. (Plus, all of their staff.)

People like you, and myself, have fought FOR YEARS trying to tell people that humans are NOT making the earth warmer. We have fought to prove that the earth goes through natural cycles. (Ice ages, warming and cooling periods. Man has nothing to do with these cycles.) Sun spots also play a role in earth’s temperatures.

These hacked e-mails PROVE, without a doubt, that temperature readings and tree ring samples were “fudged” by climate scientists, to help show that man was causing the earth to warm.

Today, we can take a little break. For the golden rule of science is that: if there is any doubt, you MUST go back to the beginning and re-work the problem.

These new findings should make any respectable scientist say: “Aaahh- Oh, I have been duped by FAKE scientific models based on faulty data. Better drop this theory or my career will also be in the toilet.”

We were called: “flat-earthers” because we fought the man- made global warming theory.

There are “flat- earthers” involved in this story. However, it is not us.

Many people who fought the “round earth theory” had a financial reason for claiming that the earth was flat. These people had businesses along the established “land based” trade routes. “Flat- earthers” would lose tons of money if ships could sail across a “round” earth. So, they tried to crush the “round earth theory” to keep these land based trade route open.

Today, global warming scientists make a living from showing that man is causing the earth to warm up. That is their job and they will fight hard to prove that these hacked e-mails mean nothing.

Governments around the world, and large companies like GE have spent millions, even billions of dollars on GREEN technologies. These people are not going to just say “Ooops”, we made a mistake. They will still fight for the man- made global warming theory, just like the “flat-earthers did, years ago.

Media outlets like CNN, NBC, and CBS have spent tons of time pushing the global warming theory. They still think that they have credibility with viewers and they fear that if they admit that they were wrong about global warming, you might lose faith in their “objective” reporting.

However, these media outlets lost their objectivity many years ago.

The fight is not over…

There are thousands of people who make a living off of global warming, and other people have fortunes riding on this theory. Just like the flat-earthers of long ago, they will fight hard to keep their jobs and their fortunes. They MUST make you believe that YOU are making the earth warmer.

I was very lucky, I read a book many years ago, called: “The Skeptical Environmentalist” by Bjorn Lomborg. Lomborg LOVES the earth. He loves all the furry little creatures that inhabit this planet. He was a “back-packing” member of “Greenpeace” for 4 years. Lomborg preaches “personal” conservation. (As in- your personal choice on what you are conserving.)

When Bjorn Lomborg first started to study man- made global warming, he was turned off by one little fact: tree ring technology and earth core samples didn’t match up with each other. Climate scientists had to “fudge” numbers so that both- tree rings and core samples lined up together and PROVED that man was making the earth warmer.

Science doesn’t “fudge” numbers. If you corrupt the data, it is no longer science. You are now pushing a political agenda.

Which is what man-made global warming is: a political agenda.

LINK: The Skeptical Environmentalist

Hacking into computers is a crime. However, I am very thankful that this information got out there. Maybe now, we can have a rational, scientific debate about our place on this earth.

I am also thankful that Barack Obama did NOT win the 2008 election.

Had Barack Obama won the election, we might be in BIG trouble right now.

The guy that we have as president right now does a lot of speeches. He travels around the world a lot. He talks about stuff, but he doesn’t get this stuff done.

I can live with that. (Until 2012.) I just wish that this guy would make up his mind on Afghanistan.

But, that Barack Obama guy who was running for president…

That Obama guy was going to bankrupt the coal industry. Obama was going to pass a “cap and trade” bill that would raise our utility bills.

Remember, that Obama guy?

Barack Obama said that if you put more air in your car tires and if you wore a sweater in your house, you could make the earth cooler. You could save the polar bears by wearing a sweater in your house.

That guy..!!

If that Barack Obama guy won the election, we could be in real bad shape right now.

Man- made global warming believers, don’t feel bad. We have all been duped by something. I must admit to being a little nervous in 1999 during the Y2K scare; fearing that my money in the bank might “disappear” when the bank’s computers switched from 1999, to the year 2000.

We all get tricked, sometimes.

Now is the time to join together and STOP federal laws that will kill our already shaky economy.

If science wants to continue to study mans effects on this earth, that is fine. If you want to drive a smaller car and turn your heater off, that is great. It is your personal choice in a free country.

However, changing our way of life through federal laws and crippling our economy because of an educated guess, is insane.

On THIS Thanksgiving, I am thankful that people are beginning to see the truth about man- made global warming.

Maybe now we can put the man- made global warming theory away, where it belongs. Right along side of other scary myths, like:

Y2K- (will kill you)

Man- made Global Cooling (will kill you)

The world is flat (and you will die)

Fire- breathing dragons (will kill you)

Happy Thanksgiving..!!

Barry G- Lone Conservative in a Liberal World

“Bad News” and “The Angry Republic” present:

The NEW adventures of Barry Goldwater

(A modern “re- telling” of a man born 50 years ahead of his time.)

We enter a world that is not much different then our own world, today.

People are people, after all.

The people of both worlds want the same thing: A place where you are free to make your dreams a reality. A place where you can meet someone to love. A decent place to raise a family. A place where you do not fear growing old.

In this respect, our worlds are not much different.

However, in the form of government rule, we would not recognize the world in which Barry Goldwater lived. It would be totally alien to us.

Democrats ruled the land for twenty years. And Democrats would have ruled for another twenty years more, if it had not been for a couple of men.

In this parallel world, it was a totally “alien” democratic party. A democratic party that locked away thousands of Americans in internment camps. Americans, who’s only crime was that they were “different.” (Japanese, German, Italian)

A democratic party that pushed the “proverbial” BUTTON, that unleashed nuclear weapons. The ONLY time that nuclear weapons have ever been used by anyone, to kill people.

In Barry G’s world, these were the days of the brutal democrat. They called themselves: “New Dealers.”

Some Americans began to quip: “New Deal my ass. It is the democrat’s way, or you go to jail. That’s the New Deal.”

But change was in the air.

The year was 1953.

There was no “Fox News Channel.”

No “Rush Limbaugh” broadcasting for three hours a day.

There wasn’t even a conservative magazine called: “National Review.”

In 1953, conservatives exchanged ideas mostly by word of mouth, on the streets.

It was your neighbor who shared your vision of America, with a smaller government and MORE personal freedom.

It was the occasional editorial in the Chicago Tribune that warned of the dangers of communism, which was spreading around the world.

Conservatism could be found in a quaint story about a “small town America” where you didn’t have to lock your doors, and people helped each other. These people didn’t need the government to pull money out of their pockets, by taxation, to help the poor. People helped people because they wanted to. You could find these stories in “Readers Digest” and “The Saturday Evening Post”.

There were conservatives out there. But it could hardly be called: “A movement.”

That is, until Barry Goldwater.

The date- January 3rd, 1953.

Barry Goldwater is about to be sworn in as an American Senator from Arizona.

We are about to peek into Goldwater’s personal journal, and learn from our republican past.

An alien world, far-far away.

Goldwater writes:

“…There were a few conservatives in congress during those days. Although Dwight D. Eisenhower had just become the first republican president in twenty years, the nation was still moving left.

Liberalism dominated not only the country’s political and educational lives…

Liberalism dominated the media.

It was extremely difficult for a conservative to be heard, much less understood.

From my early days, I never accepted the notion that conservatism was a primer for the past- that we didn’t have a vision of or faith in the future.

We (conservatives) saw the future of America in the hands of the MANY, not the self-anointed few.

For forty years, the nations liberals had conjured up false conservative, capitalistic stereotypes- of selfish people with inordinate wealth, intellectually rooted in a ‘dead yesterday.’

(On the contrary,) liberals offered to plan your life out for you.

Liberals would plan out your whole life under (the rule of HUGE) Democratic administrations, complete with “Great Societies” and “New Dealers.”

Behind all of the promise of the (liberal) planners lay a cynical contempt for the individual freedoms which make America different. (Individual freedoms which have driven millions of people, from everywhere on this earth, to make it to America, or DIE trying.)

My political mission is to restore those individual freedoms, despite the welfare state.

(While raising my hand and becoming a Senator), I took comfort in the oath to support and defend the Constitution of these United States. I was at home with the Constitution. I told myself that enterprising America, in the surge of new nations around the globe, was a good representation of rising expectations.

We ARE the world’s REAL revolutionaries.

Our principals, (contained in The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution) are lighting political fires never dreamed of by Lenin or world communism.

(My political goals…)

I have little interest in streamlining government, or in making it MORE efficient, for I mean to reduce government’s size.

I will not undertake the promotion of welfare, for I propose to extend freedom.

My aim is NOT to pass NEW laws, but to repeal them.

My goal is not to create NEW government programs, but to cancel old programs that do violence to the Constitution, or have failed in their purpose, or programs that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden.

I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is needed, BEFORE I determine if this legislation is constitutionally permissible.

And if in the future I am attacked by a constituent for not minding his interests, I will remind him that I was charged with protecting his liberty.

In that cause, I have done my very best.

Today, these are respectable political views. However, in 1953 when I started in the Senate, these ideas were revolutionary…”

Barry Goldwater

Will Barry Goldwater find his voice within the HUGE liberal Senate..??

Can Goldwater start the conservative movement..??

The only way to know for sure is to tune in for another exciting episode of:

Barry G- Lone Conservative in a Liberal World

Our next exciting episode is titled:

“Barry G- The attack of the Slush Fund Liberals”

Can Barry G survive the “Slush Fund Liberals”? Or will this story be over before it begins?

Tune in next time..!!

DVD extras and editorial “special features”:

“The making of: Barry G- Lone Conservative in a Liberal World”

“Barry G: Fact-toids:” Facts about Barry Goldwater.

Some people have asked me if I was making fun of Barry Goldwater with this promo picture that we used to promote our editorials on Barry Goldwater.

Actually, this was an inside joke, and a funny story about Barry Goldwater.

When Goldwater was running for president, a person in charge of publicity thought it would be great to make a soda pop called: “Goldwater”, (because Barry’s name sounded like a drink, anyways.)

The first idea was that this soft drink should be a gold / yellow color and flavored like lemons.

“Lemons”..?? ( Not good for a politician) Plus- gold / yellow, the color of urine..??

So, that idea was scrapped and they made the “Goldwater” soda drink with orange coloring and flavor.

When Barry Goldwater first tasted the “Goldwater” soft drink, he said it tasted like goat piss.

Goldwater never cared for the promotional soft drink and later cleaned up his explanation of why, for the public: “It tastes like gnat urine.”

Goldwater, who served in the military during WW2, was asked what he thought about Gay people serving in the military?

Goldwater replied:

“..I could care less if a man is straight, I only care if he can shoot straight…”

God help that poor turkey..!!

God, help us all..!!

It’s that time once again where we give advice to people who DO NOT WANT IT.

Democrats will not heed this advice.

They will shrug their shoulders and boast: “What the hell does he know? He is a stupid conservative who wants to kill baby ducks, and starve Black people, and kick old people out of nursing homes, and take health care away from sick children. WHAT COULD I POSSIBLY LEARN FROM THIS IDIOT..??”

Well, you could learn a few things because I am on the outside, looking in.

I am not seated inside the “Hope and Change” bus ride to hell.

So, I will offer this advice, EVEN IF no one ever reads it. Or heeds it.

(Here we go…)

If I were a democrat, I would:

Question WHY my democratically controlled congress FEELS the need to slip these health care bills in on a weekend, right before a holiday?

What’s up with that..??

Why be so freaking sneaky..??

Remember, this health care bill would (if passed) be with us FOREVER.

Isn’t the goal here to seriously reform the US health care system? Isn’t the REAL goal of this bill to make health insurance MORE affordable, to MORE people..??

Wouldn’t that be a GOOD THING..??

Then why all of the “smoke and mirrors”? Why must the “meat” of this bill be hidden within 2,000 pages of “stuff”?

Why must these bills be slipped in on a weekend, right before a holiday?

Forget republicans..!!

You do not need republicans to pass these bills, and republicans cannot stop these bills if democrats gang up against us.

Look at it this way…

If you helped write a congressional bill that will solve the health care “crisis” in America, wouldn’t you be proud of that achievement..??

If you wrote a bill that will really REALLY solve America’s health crisis, wouldn’t you want to explain to the American people why your bill will work. Wouldn’t you (and your fellow authors) form a committee and answer questions pertaining to this bill..?? Questions that we Americans have?

Why would you “hide” your health bill under the cover of 2,000 pages, and slip it into congress during a weekend, before a holiday?

Maybe, YOU, (the author of this bill) are not real sure about this bill? Maybe you are not proud of this bill? Maybe that is why you have to bribe fellow democratic senators with pork money to get them to sign it?

LINK: Harry Reid gives Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu 100 MILLION bucks to vote YES.

People, the senate is not voting to rename a post office, or some simple task like that.

The senate is voting on a bill that will effect each one of us. Once passed, this bill will be dam near impossible to fix, later on.

If I were a democrat, I would:

Ask; why hasn’t anyone in my party taken the responsibility to say: “This is my bill, I am proud of it, and I will answer any questions you have about this bill.”

(Because the dirty little secret is that YOU, the liberal, also have questions about this health care bill. You have concerns and you do not know who to ask?) Nor do I?

You, the liberal, are beginning to ask “why DO these bills have to be slipped into vote on the weekend right before the senate leaves for Thanksgiving?”

You, the liberal, are beginning to wonder why: “if this health care bill is so good, why did congress (The House of Representatives) have to sneak their bill in on Halloween, when many members of congress had plans to fly home and be with their kids on Halloween?

Because you are intelligent, you are asking yourself: “why hasn’t ANYONE; from President Obama, to Speaker Pelosi, to Sen. Reid, taken the time to fully explain what this bill will do? How much it will cost, and why there are no other options?”

If I were a democrat, I would:

Ask: Why the rush..?? The benefits of this bill do not take effect until 2013. Yet we have to pay for it NOW..?? Why can’t we, the democrats, have an honest debate about this bill?

If I were a democrat, I would:

Contact my Senator and STOP this bill.

You are not an evil republican who wants to STOP health care. You are a concerned American who has questions. We all have questions.

You would never buy a car without driving it. You would never sign a house mortgage without reading the agreement. (That’s how a lot of people got themselves in trouble with home loans.)

Yet, that is exactly what congress is asking you to do. Sit back, shut up, and do not ask any questions.

Is this the kind of America that we are “changing” to? Where we can’t even ask congress: “Hey, what is this $500 BILLION dollar cut to Medicare all about? How will it effect my Grandparents?”

LINK: Democrats cut $500 billion from old people to pay for your health insurance. (LA Times)

Is THIS the kind of America that we have evolved into? Where we cannot ask questions? We just cross our fingers and HOPE that congress will do the right thing?

If I were a democrat, I would:

Contact my senator and tell them to vote NO.

You can stop this bill.

I would tell my senator to go take his (or her) stupid vacation. I would tell my senator to pick this debate up in January when we can cut the pork from this bill. We can go over this bill- line by line, so that all of us Americans will have our questions answered. (Something that President Obama promised to do, but hasn’t gotten around to it.)

It’s not too late…

You can still contact your senator.

LINK: How to contact my senator.

(Though, most of the phone lines are jammed, and you will never know if your e-mail is landing into some giant cyber trash can, at least you will know that you tried to be a responsible American.)

If I were a democrat, I would:

Wonder, why is everyone in my party focused on Sarah Palin..??

If Palin is as dumb, inexperienced, and inept as liberals say she is, why are liberals so focused on her..??

Don’t we run the risk of making Sarah a sympathetic figure?

America has never had a woman president, and since no liberal woman will oppose President Obama in 2012, aren’t we actually giving Palin publicity?

Tons of FREE publicity..!!

(OK, maybe I should scratch that last one.)

Liberals…

You keep right on talking smack about Sarah Palin.

At least keep talking about Sarah Palin until 2011. Then, Americans will be so sick of hearing your negativity, that it will mean nothing, to no one.

Trial of the Century- in NY City

I know that many of you are worried and concerned about President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to bring “alleged” Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to New York City to face charges in a CIVILIAN federal court.

I feel your pain..!!

After all, Khalid was rounded up during a BATTLE raid, which took place DURING A WAR.

Therefore, Khalid was apprehended by military soldiers, DURING A WAR, and probably not read his Miranda Rights, or given his “one phone call”, or given a nice cozy sweater with a picture of a Thanksgiving turkey on it.

You, (thinking all “logical”) would assume that Khilad Sheikh Mohammed would be tried in a military style court. Considering the fact that Khilad, and his dear leader: Osama bin Laden, declared WAR against America in the 1990’s. The two plotted this WAR on The United States, and then carried out the attacks on American interests.

American interests; which included the death of nearly 3,000 Americans at the World Trade Towers.

Had Khilad Sheikh Mohammed NOT declared war on The United States, and was arrested by NY City police officers for robbing Macy’s; then we would be talking about a civilian court.

BUT YOU, (thinking all “logical”) believes that Khilad committed crimes against America, not just New York City.

Because Khilad Sheikh Mohammed declared WAR on The United States, carried out a massive attack, and was apprehended in War Time; you believe that Khilad should be tried in military fashion. A court that is designed to handle conditions of the battle field.

Silly you…

Thinking all “logical”.

If we did what you are asking; we would miss out on…

Hurry, hurry, hurry…

Step right up.

Come one, come all.

See the spectacle that is: Bush vs Khilad.

Watch in amazement, as a trial on a 9/11 KILLER: Khilad Sheikh Mohammed, turns into a trial on an American President, and military activities during a WAR.

Watch, as the City of New York is held hostage, by a massive trial that brings on NEW threats of violence. Thrill, as the people of NY City are subjected to NEW rounds of bag, purse, and body searches.

Watch as New York City is terrorized all over again.

Laugh out loud, because you can watch this spectacle from the comfort of you home; not having to live, or get to work in NY City.

Maybe you thought that OJ Simpson was guilty of murder.

Silly fool.

YOU WERE WRONG..!!

Maybe you thought that Michael Jackson was guilty of child molestation.

YOU WERE WRONG, AGAIN..!!

Is Khilad Sheikh Mohammed guilty of killing 3,000 Americans..??

Will you be wrong, again..??

Who Knows..??

The only way to know for sure, is to tune into the circus, which is:

President Obama…

If you have evidence to bring on court trials of the Bush Administration for torture, war crimes, or any other aspects that the FAR Left can conjure up; by all means, you have the right to do just that.

However this chicken shit, back door method that you are using now, is pathetic.

Mr. President…

Will you grow a pair and BE A MAN..!!

If you want to go after the Bush Administration, then go after them.

This “back door method” is not fooling anyone. Even the FAR Left.

You are “playing games” with a terrorist who killed more people then the Japanese did during Pearl Harbor.

President Obama, you are playing games with the City of New York; which is already over crowded, and already under fear of terror attacks.

President Obama…

Khilad Sheikh Mohammed MUST be tried in a military court.

Quit “playing games.”

American JOBS part 3- “The Solution” (Dream, the impossible Dream)

This is part three of a series of editorials on American JOBS. In the last two editorials, we talked about “what went wrong” and WHY we need to return jobs to America.

THE PROBLEM

America has become a country that doesn’t MAKE anything, anymore.

We service things, and we sell things.

But very few products are actually made here in America.

As a result, many Americans are “underemployed”, and 10% of the American workforce is unemployed. They have no job.

In just a few years, because of republican AND democrat party leadership, we have dropped from 5 % unemployment, to 10% unemployment.

If this trend is allowed to continue and the unemployment rate doubles again; we will be closing in on the 29% unemployment rate of The Great Depression.

It MUST stop now.

Democrats and Republicans are fighting over “words on paper.”

2,000 pages of words on paper, called: “Health Care Reform Act.”

Health Care might be important to some.

Education is at the top of the list for others.

But American JOBS and the economy should be important to all.

I do not claim to have the answers, I only have a single solution.

You may agree or disagree with my solution. However, we should agree that the economy and jobs should be the number one priority for every politician in Washington.

For, without a solid workforce, without a strong economy, there will be no tax money for education, or health care, or newly paved roads.

American JOBS- The solution

To come to this solution that I have, I had to drop a couple of “beliefs” that I held dear.

It wasn’t easy.

(Belief One) Religious-

“..If you give a man a fish, that is very noble, he can eat. However, you will have to give this man a fish tomorrow.

If you teach a man to fish, he can feed himself..”

In essence, that is what we did. We taught the “third world” how to fish.

Ever since I was a child, I remember hearing about the starving people in Asia, Mexico, Africa, and the likes. America has sent billions of dollars in foreign aid to starving nations, only to have to send more the next year.

By allowing our manufacturing to head overseas, we gave the third world a “fishing pole” so they can feed themselves.

However, with our current economic situation and lack of good paying jobs, there should be a third line in that old parable. A line that reads:

“..If the man that you taught to fish begins fishing IN YOUR POND and takes all of your fish, causing you to go hungry. It is time to kick that man in the ass..”

(OK, my “third line” of that parable may not fit into most religious text. But the point is made.)

Yes, God wants us to help the poor.

But God doesn’t want us to be stupid and hungry.

There are many ways to help the poor. But we cannot help anyone, if WE are poor and hungry.

(Belief Two) Strict Conservatism

“..The government cannot interfere in the ‘free Market’. What about the constitution? Every time that the government messes with capitalism, they screw the whole thing up..”

This is a tough one. You hear it on every conservative show. All of the “talk stars” subscribe to the notion that “you cannot mess with free enterprise.”

This idea is simply not true. The free market in America has NEVER been “truly” FREE, and has been “screwed with” by the government, ever since the founding fathers. Sometimes it works very well. Sometimes, it doesn’t work at all.

I can only give a couple of examples of what I am talking about here, and we have to move on:

In 1904, a Socialist named Upton Sinclair was paid $500 bucks to write a fiction series for a newspaper about American workers. Sinclair focused on slaughter houses and the Meat Packing industry in Chicago. In the 1900’s, people were dying from tainted meat. The meat packing industry in America was sickening.

The meat packing plants were unsanitary. Meat was left out in the open for too long, and people were dying.

The goal of Sinclair was to show Americans that capitalism didn’t work, and socialism could protect you.

Sinclair’s work, later packaged as a book called: “The Jungle”, was mostly fiction. (It was never proved that someone actually fell into a meat grinder and was sold for food.) However, Sinclair’s book had just enough truth in it, that it become popular.

The goal of the socialist movement and Sinclair’s idea failed with the American public. Instead of adopting socialism, our government created the “Food and Drug Administration”, which began inspections into America’s food industry.

No one reading this can deny that WE MUST have an independent government agency to watch over our food and drugs. If left unchecked, private business could become “The Jungle”, that Sinclair penned, long time ago.

The second example I wanted to give, before we move on, is based on Thomas Edison.

Back when America was “getting wired” for electricity, Mr. Edison was NOT going to run power lines out to rural areas and farmers.

I will paraphrase what Edison said:

“..I’m not spending hundreds of dollars to run power lines and telephone poles out to some farmer, so I can get a couple of bucks back selling electricity..??”

Power companies were not going to run power lines out to the rural areas.

It took the government to create the REA, which ran power lines, and then bought electricity from existing companies to sell to the farmers.

FACT: There are 6 billion people in the world today, only half of the world’s population has electricity, even today.

The government CAN do some things very well. They can also screw things up.

Unfortunately, we will need the government’s help to return JOBS back to America.

Here is what we CANNOT do

When trying to figure out what we need to do to return jobs back to America, it helps to rule out what we cannot do.

Lower payroll

We cannot ask American workers to work for the same pay as their Mexican and Chinese counterparts. Rule that one out.

Ending OSHA and the EPA.

We all want clean water, fresh air, and safe jobs. So, there is not much that we can do here.

We can pull back on some of the outrageous EPA rules: “the Delta Smelt” cutting off the water supply to California farmers, EPA restrictions on wood burning heaters (our only TRUE renewable source heater), etc.

A “Buy American” campaign

Back in the 1970’s and 80’s, you could have a successful “buy American” campaign because you could still find American TV’s, clothes, and such, to choose from.

Today, you will not find an American made TV sitting on a shelf next to a Japanese made TV. You are not going to find an American made shirt sitting next to a shirt made in India. Even if you wanted to “buy American”, you could not. It has gotten that bad.

The above was a list of things that we cannot do. Let’s move on to:

American JOBS- The Solution

Taxation.

That’s the solution.

(Really, it’s the only thing that we can do to bring back jobs to America.)

Today; American made products are taxed higher than foreign made product ONLY because the government can tax American made products- more.

In America, we can tax a product many times during the manufacturing process and the distribution. Then we can tax that product again during the sale of it, to you.

A foreign made product is taxed when it comes into the country, and again on the resale to you.

(That’s a bit simplified, but you get my drift.)

When you add taxation, and high labor costs, with EPA laws, and OSHA concerns, it is amazing that anything is still “Made in America.”

I propose the removal of ALL taxes on American made products.

All Federal, State, and Local taxes will be removed from any product that is “truly” Made in America.

To compensate for the loss of revenue to the government, an import tax (tariff) shall be placed, therein, or raised, if applies.

Now, I am not an economist. So, I cannot tell you how high the import tax would be. A really good “bean counter” would have to go over the federal budget and figure out “how high” to raise this import tax. (And, I’m sure that this economist would tell me that it is impossible to remove ALL taxes from American made products.)

A very low domestic tax, coupled with a higher import tax, should level the playing field.

The downside: No company is going to move to America “the minute” that this new tax policy is implemented. Companies would wait a year or so to see if we are serious about it.

Which means, the cost of buying goods will be very high, for all of us.

The upside: We grow “most” of our own food. So food cost shouldn’t be effected. We use American lumber to build houses, so housing shouldn’t be effected. We may have to make an exception for heating oil and gasolene.

The downside: China will be pissed off at us..!!

If we were to do this, we would piss off most of the world. We would be breaking trade policies, and we would be kicked out of the “One World Order” club.

The upside: We would be kicked out of the “One World Order” club.

Hey, what’s China going to do? Kick our ass..??

These foreign countries already know that America’s foreign trade laws are screwed up. They laugh at us.

The ratio:

For every (1) children’s toy that is made in America and shipped to China. China makes 1,000 different toys that are shipped back here.

For every (1) GM car that is sold in Japan, Japan sells 400 cars to America.

Folks, these people are laughing at us. And they are getting rich. And we are losing work.

I believe that after a year or two, when companies see that we are serious with this new tax system, they will be moving to America, and hiring American workers.

The timing is right

Many American companies moved to foreign lands in the 70’s and 80’s. Which means that their buildings are going on 30 or 40 years old. They may be thinking about expanding or re-tooling their factories. If we catch them in time, why not build here in America? Get a BIG tax break. Instead of putting a new plant in India or Malaysia..??

We really are not talking about something that is “that” radical. We do this all the time, between the states. One county will offer Wal-Mart a 5 year tax break if they build their new Wal-Mart here, instead of another county, somewhere else.

The State of Pennsylvania will offer a Hollywood movie company BIG incentives to film a movie here, instead of some other state. (Which means another “killer zombie” movie will be made near Pittsburgh Pennsylvania; “Night of the living dead”, “Dawn of the dead”, etc.)

So, this tax plan is not really radical.

Some products are partially made in America. Parts for this product are made somewhere else and shipped here to be assembled. “That’s not good enough.”

I suggest a “Pride in America” label.

This label, (dressed up with a pretty flag) will tell consumers “how much of the product is actually Made in America.”

If 50% of the product is actually made in America, then they get a 50% reduction in tax. This would place an incentive to make MORE of their product here.

Take a car, for example: it would be impossible to make 100% of a car here, right now.

However, let’s say that TODAY: 60% of a Chevy is made in America. You can bet that Honda will advertise 70% of their car is made in America. (And they will display it WITH PRIDE on the “Pride in America” label.) This will cause Ford to relocate a factory from Mexico, up to Detroit, or Cleveland, and advertise 75% “Made in America.” And so on.

I have racked my brains for this editorial, and this series of posts on American JOBS. I wanted to provide solutions, not just talk about it.

We do not want to lower our wages. We do not want to pollute the earth. Our only choice to bring back American JOBS is through taxation.

I truly believe that if we remove ALL taxes from American Made products, and raise taxes on foreign products to compensate for lost government revenue, we can entice manufacturing back into America.

We CAN provide Americans with JOBS.

This concludes the third editorial on American JOBS. I am placing links below, incase you missed the first two editorials.

The forth editorial in this series is really special.

For those of you who still believe that the American government CANNOT interfere with the free market…

Well, we are going to learn exactly what the founding father did, when faced with a similar situation, as we have today.

Also in the next editorial, we will talk about how to implement this new tax policy. (How to get congress on board.)

But, that will be our next editorial. Due out in a week or two.

Historic Health Care Bill Passes

The US House of Representatives passed the Health Reform Bill (Act) by a margin of 220 votes for it, and 215 against it.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi called this an “Historic Moment.”

It is “Historic.”

This is the first time, that I can remember, that the federal government will FORCE you to buy something, or throw you in jail if you do not.

Many people were under the impression that this Bill would provide FREE health care.

Oh, no, my friend. You were very much asleep at the wheel. Many of us tried to warn you about this Bill. (But you do not trust us conservatives.)

Let me give you the exact quotes:

“..The $1.3 trillion-dollar bill would REQUIRE individuals to BUY health insurance..”

(I’m really sorry to have to do this) But, do you see the word “free” anywhere in that statement..??

You do not see the word “free” because it isn’t free.

To get all of you Americans covered with health insurance, the democrats are going to FORCE you to BUY it. Simple as that. Problem solved.

We have people in America who do not have health insurance. Solution- FORCE them to BUY insurance, or risk going to jail.

Here is how it works:

You WILL get your ass out there and BUY health insurance. If you do NOT buy health insurance, you will be fined. If you do not pay the fine, you go to jail.

You go to jail and you will be sitting next to a guy named Bubba who raped 5 women. When Bubba asks what you did to get in jail, you can tell him that you “didn’t buy health insurance.” Then, you and Bubba can head off and do… (Well, whatever Bubba WANTS to do.)

Now, maybe you think that “low income people” will get FREE health insurance? After all, wasn’t that the whole point to all of “this”.

You would be wrong.

Again, the exact quote:

“…Low- and middle-income families would receive government subsidies to PURCHASE insurance..”

WOW, I do not see the word “free.”

I see the word “purchase.”

I looked up the definition of the word “purchase”, and it doesn’t say: “FREE.” it says: “the act of buying.”

Low income people will have to BUY health insurance. Then they will take the receipt and use it on their tax return for next year to show that they “purchased” the insurance WITH THEIR OWN MONEY. And then, later on in the year, they may, (or may NOT) receive a refund (subsidies) that covers the total (or some of the) amount that they spent “buying” insurance.

The “very poor” already qualify for Medicaid, so they are out of this loop.

Maybe you already HAVE health insurance, and you think that THIS will not effect you..??

You would be very, very wrong.

The exact quote:

“…(Subsidies for the low income,) which would be paid for through tax increases on individuals making more than $500,000 per year, as well as fees on medical providers…”

OK, the democrats are going to tax the hell out of the rich people. People who provide JOBS for us Americans.

“..Fees on medical providers..”

The democrats will raise taxes on hospitals.

Hospitals will charge MORE money for medical procedures. Which, in turn, will raise the cost of your health insurance.

Remember: Whenever you tax the RICH more, whether it be some rich business owner, or a BIG hospital; it always trickles down to you. (In the form of fewer jobs, lower paying jobs, and higher priced goods.)

The House Bill includes a “public option,” which the democrats claim will be a lower form of insurance. However, I find it hard to believe anything that the democrats tell us, at this point.

The House Bill will include a raise in your income tax. (Which, President Obama said wouldn’t happen..??)

The House Bill also mandates that insurance companies cannot turn a person down because of pre-existing illness. I have never had a problem with this aspect. (I know that some conservatives do.) We are a compassionate nation. There is no reason that a cancer patient should have to search for health coverage.

As Nancy Pelosi said: “This is a historic moment.”

It is.

I cannot remember a time in which the federal government has ever forced you to buy a product, or faced jail time if you do not buy this product.

Some people have claimed that the government already forces you to buy car insurance. “So, why not health insurance..??”

The mandate on car insurance is a little different, and people are confused.

My State, Pennsylvania, mandates that you carry “liability” insurance. That is all.

Liability insurance does not cover your car, or your body (if something happens to you.) Liability insurance covers the poor bastard that you slam into, with your one ton car.

You can expand your coverage to comprehensive, which would cover the person you slammed into, plus your car, plus your body (broken leg, broken face, or someone sues you for driving too fast.)

Health insurance is a little different.

If you sit on your ass and eat greasy cheeseburgers all day, the only person that you are hurting is yourself. (Unlike, when you plow your one ton car into someone’s house and destroy their lives.)

Some argue that “we all pay” when the uninsured are rushed to the emergency room for treatment. That is true.

But what this bill does, is force all of us to pay NOW, just in case this guy has a heart attack later on.

So, this is an argument on “pay now” or “pay later.”

Democrats claim that if we cover more people with health insurance now, the cost will be lower because of preventative care.

Oh, really..??

These democrats have never stepped foot into the billings department of a major hospital. People on Medicaid are far more likely to head to the doctor FOR ANY REASON. (Sick belly, “I feel dizzy” my foot hurts) Far more times then the average person on regular health insurance with a co-pay.

We will NOT save money with this Bill.

It will cost more.

Let me be the one to say that the republican health bill was a joke. It had me asking: “guys, why even bother..??” It was a stupid idea for the republicans to toss that piece of crap out there. It wasn’t going anywhere, and if conservatives had read the republican health bill, they would have been pissed off.

But, this democrat bill is very bad.

I believe a lot of people were mislead into believing that it would be free.

Keep in mind that the very poor already have Medicaid.

Low income people will have to BUY insurance and they might get a percentage of that money back, at the end of the year.

Middle income people, who went without health insurance, are the ones who will be screwed.

“Why didn’t you buy insurance before?”

Maybe you were single with no kids. Maybe you were young and starting out. Maybe you were trying to buy a house, or just having fun. Maybe you paid the doctor cash, instead. Maybe you just liked having a choice?

I WANT YOU TO HAVE THAT CHOICE..!!

I had that choice.

I went 15 years without health insurance and it freed up monies for other things. Today, I do have health insurance because I am middle age and it makes more sense.

The democrats do not want you to have that choice. You are silly and stupid, and the democrats know better what is good for you.

YOU WILL BUY HEALTH INSURANCE.

If you refuse to BUY health insurance and you do not pay the democrat’s fine.

You will go to jail.

Democrats, is this what you wanted..??

Really, I ask: “Is this what you wanted.?”

Or, has this thing gotten so big, and so political, that you are afraid to speak out now?

There is still hope.

The Senate must still pass a bill. They are having real problems doing that.

If the Senate can pass “something”, both bills would be “compromised” to make one bill that all must re-vote on.

So, this isn’t a “done deal” just yet.

But it is inching closer.

Folks, Let’s reform health insurance.

Let’s NOT force people to BUY into a system that we all agree is broken.

It is time once again, for The Angry Republic’s “special”: ANGRY Award.

Special ANGRY Award- category- GAY

It is time once again, for The Angry Republic’s “special”: ANGRY Award.

The ANGRY Award is given out to people who do (or say) something that is so hypocritically stupid, that it MUST have been said (or done) in ANGER.

(It is a psychological- type thing.)

NOTE- I am not a psychologist. I am a guy who sits in his sweat pants, and writes a blog.

Today’s recipient of the Angry Award (category GAY) goes to- Perez Hilton.

Wow, I think Perez Hilton won this award before, back when he called Miss California, Carrie Prejean: “A Bitch” because he didn’t like her answer to a question, at a beauty pageant.

(Then, of course, Carrie Prejean had naked pictures and a sex tape appear out of nowhere.) That’s the end of that story.

Perez Hilton is a blogger who fights for Gay Rights and he wins the Angry Award today because he is trying to force CNN’s News Anchor- Anderson Cooper to admit that he is Gay.

Now, I realize that there are other people involved with this “outting” of Mr. Cooper. For example, there are bloggers at the web site “Gawker” who are also pushing Cooper to talk about his personal life. But Perez Hilton allows us to put a “face” on the issue.

And here is that face.

(Sigh.. Must control urge to say something REALLY politically incorrect, here.)

I am not a Gay man, so maybe I do not understand the need for some Gay people to FORCE famous people to come out of the closet..??

I do not understand this..??

I have tried to put it into a prospective that I might understand…

What if an Italian / American man became president. BUT, he changed his last name to Smith, to hide his ethnic background. Would I, an Italian / American want to “out” this man because I want the world to know that an Italian man was president of The United States..??

No..!!

Matter of fact, I’m not even sure what nationality President Bush was..?? It didn’t matter to me.

Let me go a step further…

I once thought that Fox News’- Greta Van Susteren was Gay.

That’s how silly I am.

However I never felt the need to FORCE the issue. It was something that I kept to myself.

But come on; Greta doesn’t dress like a girl, she wears suits. She likes football. And when she sits down for an interview, she crosses her legs like a cowboy. “What is a neanderthal like myself supposed to think..??”

I found out later that Greta is very much married. And she is not Gay.

But this is the point; I never felt the need to force Greta into telling if she was Gay. I watched her show because it was interesting.

I really do not care what Anderson Cooper does in his bedroom. I do not want to know. (Sick little bastard probably does all kinds of things, with implements and such, but it is none of my business.)

Which brings me back to the beginning…

I do not understand why some people in the Gay community want to FORCE famous people to admit their sexuality..??

Here is Perez Hilton’s reason:

“..Maybe because (COOPER is) so secretive about it, it’s having a reverse effect. If (Anderson Cooper) just came out, there might not be as much interest. You don’t ever really see people talking about Neil Patrick Harris’s boyfriend or anything along those lines..”

Wait a minute…

Neil Patrick Harris is Gay..??

Doogie Howser M.D. is Gay..??

OK, there are things that I just do not “need” to know.

In life, it doesn’t really matter.

I know that Rush Limbaugh was hooked on drugs. Big deal, many of us were, at one time. He bounced back from it, so what? It doesn’t change my opinion of him.

I do not know “for a fact” that the rock band Pink Floyd was “stoned” when they wrote most of their songs. I don’t need to know, and it wouldn’t change my opinion of them. (Actually, I would be stunned to find out that Pink Floyd was SOBER when they wrote that stuff.)

I never felt the need to find out whether Freddie Mercury, from the band “Queen” was Gay. And when he came out of the closet, (ON HIS OWN) PICTURE it didn’t change my opinion of his music. (Though, we all did wonder why a band of “hard rockers” would call themselves- “Queen.”)

It was part of the mystery.

There is no “mystery” today.

Everyone must “run” to a microphone and proclaim who they prefer to have sex with. It is “important.” We MUST know.

To win the coveted “ANGRY Award” in the Gay category, you MUST say or do something that is truly- hypocritical.

Perez Hilton has done just that.

Perez Hilton fights for the rights of the Gay community. That is very noble.

However, Hilton also wants the government to stay the hell out of HIS bedroom, and quit governing morality.

Mr. Hilton, if you want the government to stay out of your bedroom, don’t you think that Anderson Cooper wants YOU to stay the hell out of HIS bedroom..??

What gives you the right..??

(I love stories like this one. There is no “gray area.” Right is right, and wrong is wrong.)

Let’s check in with our current poll question and see how you, the readers, feels about this:

Leave Anderson Cooper alone.

If Cooper wants to talk about his sexuality, he will. If not, let it be a “mystery.”

The Winner of the November 2009 ANGRY Award goes to…

Perez Hilton

If you know of anyone who should be considered for a future ANGRY Award, let us know in the comment section.

To be eligible for this award, your subject MUST be a human, from the ages of 1 to 150 years old. (Though, we have never had an infant win this award. There is not much that a baby can say that would be construed as: hypocritical. “Da Da, Ma Ma, etc)

Also, you MUST fall into several categories: Gay, heterosexual, Hollywood, political and carbon based life forms.

Producers of “The Angry Republic” are NOT eligible to win The ANGRY Award because what are the chances of “us” ever saying anything hypocritical (heh heh)..?? Besides, we run this joint, why would we ever point a finger at ourselves..??

Thanks for reading The Angry Republic

The Angry Republic’s

Video Broadcast number 8

Is Barack Obama- Gay..??

OK, if Obama isn’t Gay, is Obama the “Anti-Christ”..??
